BOLTON — A Monday morning truck crash that closed part of the Northway for several hours occurred when a front tire on the truck blew out, police said.
The driver of the truck, Richard C. Sears, 74, of Glens Falls, was taken to Glens Falls Hospital after the 10:32 a.m. crash in the southbound lanes between exits 23 and 24, according to State Police. Sears operates Richard Sears Tree Experts and was driving one of the company's trucks when the crash occurred.
Police said he was heading south when the front passenger side tire on the truck ruptured, resulting in the truck veering off the road and rolling over down an embankment. Sears suffered facial cuts and a possible neck injury, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Sears was taken to Glens Falls Hospital. His treatment status was not available Tuesday.
No tickets were issued.
