WHITEHALL — A 17-year-old Hampton resident stole a Cadillac Seville from an automotive repair shop to pay his debt to a Vermont drug dealer, Granville's New York State Police Investigators reported Saturday.
State Police said the teenager took the vehicle and drove it to Vermont, as the teenager had owed a drug dealer $80. The vehicle was stashed in a wooded area in Fair Haven, Vermont, authorities say.
The teenager was charged with felony fourth-degree grand larceny, and vehicle and traffic violations as the teenager did not have a drivers license.
State Police were assisted by the Fair Haven Police Department to locate the vehicle in a wooded lot behind the Fair Haven grade school.
The subject was not identified as they are a minor.
