Firefighters extinguish fire at Hebron home

  • 0

HEBRON | One person suffered minor burns and a family of three was homeless as fire destroyed a home on Wood Way on Thursday afternoon.

A resident of 50 Wood Way, whose name was not available, suffered slight burns to his head and face as fire broke out shortly before 1 p.m. He was treated at the scene by Salem Rescue Squad members, Hebron Fire Chief David Getty said.

Getty said occupants managed to get pets out, but the ranch-style manufactured home was a total loss. The fire appeared to start because of a wood stove problem.

The Adirondack-Saratoga Chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting the family later Thursday.

Hebron firefighters received mutual aid from the Salem, Cambridge, Cossayuna, Shushan, and West Pawlet and Rupert, Vermont fire departments.

The fire came on a day where Hebron firefighters had already been called twice earlier in the day to help Middle Granville firefighters at the scene of a rekindled house fire.
