SALEM — A contractor from Pennsylvania was jailed Sunday for allegedly stealing money from a home where he was working and for possessing drugs, police said.

Earl B. Hoover, 37, of Duncansville, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to State Police.

He is accused of stealing more than $1,000 from the victim and possessing methamphetamines and unidentified prescription drugs when State Police located him in Salem on Sunday.

Hoover was arraigned and sent to Washington County Jail for lack of bail.
