Try 3 months for $3

Whether your name is Sullivan or not, today everyone is Irish. We drink green beer, enjoy corned beef and cabbage and celebrate like we are in Ireland. It is hard not to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in one way or another. This is one of those holiday’s that can be a lot of fun while sticking to a budget. Here are some things to do while wearing green this weekend!

Host a St. Patrick’s Day party! Get some simple decorations, every dollar store around has them. Make some green drinks and have your friends bring some green treats to snack on. It is always fun to get together with friends and family to enjoy some quality time.

Celebrate with the kiddos! There are many ways to enjoy this holiday with children and keep within a budget. Make a homemade leprechaun trap, because you know those little buggers love to make a mess. Hide some “gold” around the house and have a little scavenger hunt. Make green cookies or another snack. So many easy, inexpensive ways to enjoy the day.

Head out to eat! A lot of places around this wonderful region will be serving special meals for St. Patrick’s Day. Whether it be a boiled dinner with ham and cabbage or a traditional corned beef, these will be on the menu locally for sure. Call your favorite restaurant and find out their specials and what time they are serving. As it is important to shop locally and give business to our local stores and restaurants, it will be nice to treat yourself to a nice dinner out and no dishes to do at home.

Shop tomorrow to save for next year. Go through all of those decorations tomorrow and see what you can set aside for next March. Everything will be marked at least 50% off. Maybe you didn’t have time to have a get together this year, or didn’t have the extra money. If you plan ahead, buy the green items on clearance, you will be ahead of the game. Not to mention, some of the green items can be used while we head into spring. Think Easter and see if there is anything you can use in an Easter basket, or for your Easter celebration. Saving money makes it that much more enjoyable in my eyes!
