Nursing awards

The Post-Star is looking for the best nurses in the region.

For the inaugural Nursing Awards event, The Post-Star needs nominations of nurses who were extraordinary in 2018.

Nursing is a demanding profession, and each nurse can have an enormous impact. Patients depend on nurses to know when they need emergency help, encourage them as they recover, wipe away tears and provide comfort when no one else is there.

“Nurses are a very important segment of the community,” said Post-Star Publisher Rob Forcey. “They take care of us. We should recognize them.”

Nominations for last year’s stellar nurses begin Feb. 17 and end on March 3.

Anyone can nominate a nurse who has made a difference in their life or the life of a loved one during 2018.

An independent panel of judges will choose nine nurses from the nominees.

Additionally, there will be one reader’s choice award. Voting will take place March 18 to March 31. There will be a voting page on poststar.com.

On May 12, in celebration of National Nurses’ Week, The Post-Star will publish a full-color special section called “Nurses: The Heart of Health Care.” It will feature the stories of the 10 winning nurses. They will also be featured on poststar.com/contests.

An awards breakfast will be held May 8 to recognize them.
