GLENS FALLS — Bistro Tallulah, the popular restaurant on Ridge Street, has "closed until further notice," according to a message on its answering machine.

A phone message left at the eatery was not returned Friday.

The restaurant opened in 2007, offering "a variety of French country and Spanish bistro dishes, as well as a sampling of soups, salads and sandwiches," according to its owner.

It had operated to good reviews, and last year was named as a top-ranked restaurant in upstate New York's 50 biggest cities and towns list, based on reviews.

The restaurant's state liquor license lapsed as of Nov. 30.

The proprietors applied in mid-December to renew it, and that application was pending as of earlier this month, according to the state Liquor Authority. There has been no disciplinary action against the licensee or establishment, the Liquor Authority spokesman said.
