SARATOGA SPRINGS -- City police searched for an injured man on Sunday who was caught on video surveillance breaking into a building and later reported missing by friends.

According to the Saratoga Springs Police Department, video surveillance showed Alexander Grant, 19, of Westchester County, break into a building on Care Lane at about 1:15 a.m. wearing only a pair of shorts, one sock and a T-shirt. He left around 2 a.m. through the front door.

The break-in was reported to police around noon. When officers arrived, they found a broken window and a large amount of blood at the scene.

Nothing was reported taken, and rain had washed away any blood trail.

Later on Sunday, three individuals appeared at the station to report a friend went missing after leaving a party on Church Street at 11 p.m. Saturday. They confirmed it was Grant in the break-in footage.

After an expanded search, police found Grant’s clothing and identification 500 yards north of the office building.

Police continued to search for Grant as of Sunday night. Weather was hampering search efforts, however.

Grant is 6-foot-2-inches tall, and weighs 190 pounds.

Lt. Gregory Veitch said Grant may have been drinking prior to going missing.

He is not a student in the area and is unfamiliar with Saratoga Springs, Veitch said.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen or heard from Grant after 2 a.m. to call 584-1800.
