League commissioner Brian McKenna will be on hand Friday for the announcement in Glens Falls that the Adirondack Flames are moving to the ECHL.

ECHL Director of Communications Joe Babik confirmed McKenna will be present. Two sources close to the Flames confirmed the topic of the news conference, but asked to remain anonymous because the move has not been announced.

The AHL is expected to announce the creation of a Pacific Division at 3:30 p.m. today (follow along on The Post-Star's live blog here). That new division is expected to include the Calgary Flames' affiliate, the one currently located in Glens Falls.

That move will open up the Civic Center for a new team, the ECHL team Calgary is buying in Stockton, California.

The Flames' news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Heritage Hall at the Civic Center and is open to the public. The Post-Star will be live blogging and live streaming video from the event as well.
