With an influx of snow on the way and below normal temperatures having a firm hold on the region, the three ORDA operated ski areas will open a week earlier than normal.
Belleayre, Gore and Whiteface will open to skiers and riders on Saturday according to a Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Office news release.
Gore Mountain Marketing Manger Emily Stanton said the mountain will be open Saturday and Sunday, close Monday through Thanksgiving and re-open for daily operations on Nov. 23.
The three mountains were anticipating opening on Nov. 23 as snowmaking operations got underway last weekend. According to the news release the resorts have been making snow around the clock.
According to the release, Gore is planning to offer skiing and riding accessed via its gondola or Adirondack Express II and conveyor lifts with plans to open trails such as Showcase and Bear Cub Run. The Nordic trails will also be open with two kilometers of trails for cross-country skiing at the historic North Creek Ski Bowl.
