SCHROON LAKE -- William E. Planty, 58, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Bill was born Sept. 12, 1955, in Ticonderoga, the son of the late Raymond A. and Florence Searles Planty.
Bill was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and spent his whole life in the area. He was employed as a carpenter for Demarsh Construction in Schroon Lake and later worked for Bruce McGinn Construction in Olmstedville for 13 years until an injury forced him to leave the workforce.
Bill was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was an excellent second baseman on the Schroon Lake men’s softball team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golf when he was able.
Survivors include his sons, Beau Miner of Corinth and Benjamin Planty of Fort Ann; his daughter, Brandi Planty of Schroon Lake; his two grandchildren, Jude and Ezra Miner; his sister, Renee M.(Planty) Russell of East Greenbush; his brothers, Raymond A. Planty of Schroon Lake and Robert D. Planty of Clifton Park; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June, 4, 2014, at Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 U.S. Route 9, Schroon Lake.
Interment will follow in Schroon River Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
