FORT ANN — Virginia (Snody) Parrott, 82, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, with her loving and devoted husband by her side.
She was born Feb. 15, 1936 at Glens Falls Hospital, to the late Howard and Beatrice (Jackson) Snody. She was a graduate of the Fort Ann Central School class of 1953.
On Feb. 20, 1955, she married the love of her life, Richard J. Parrott, at the United Protestant Church in Fort Ann.
She was the Fort Ann town historian from 1972 to present and register of vital statics for the Town of Fort Ann, 1983 to present. She was a member of the Washington County Historical Society and a member of the Queen Anne Senior Citizens, past member of the BPW, past member of the Fort Ann Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and past town tax collector of Fort Ann. She was a recent recipient of the Shining Star Award of June 19, 2018. She was instrumental in the preservation of Battle Hill, The East Westfield Cemetery reclamation and cemetery maintenance. She loved to travel, genealogy, crossword puzzles and lighthouses.
She is survived by her loving and her devoted husband of 63 and a half years, Richard J. Parrott; her children, Patricia Smith (Ted), her devoted caretaker, daughter, Rebecca L. Parrott Cottone (Frank) and devoted son, Richard K. Parrott; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Marge Forgues of Vermont; several nieces and nephews; and her partner in crime, grandniece, Christine Milligan.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Mason’s Funeral Home, 18 George St., Fort Ann. A reception to follow at the Fort Ann Firehouse on Route 149.

She was a tough, strong-willed, courageous and amazing woman who overcame many health issues and will be greatly missed by all.
