WEST FORT ANN — Thomas A. Purdy of West Fort Ann passed away suddenly Sunday Oct. 14, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness.
He was born April 23, 1953, the son of Kenneth Purdy Sr. and Dorothy Brown. Tom graduated from Hudson Falls High School and then attended trade school, where he learned to weld. He was a welder for over 30 years at Sandy Hill Mill. He then continued as a welder for the New York State Canal Corporation, where he then retired.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor activities with his family, as well as spending time with his daughter and grandson.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Purdy; his brother Bruce Purdy; and his brother-in-law Phillip Dwyer.
Survivors include his daughter Fallon Dingman and her companion Kevin Yell; his grandson Weston Dingman; his sister Marcia Dwyer; his brother Kenneth Purdy Jr. and his wife Marie; along with many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to his good friend, Bill Hosmer, for all the help he gave during Tom's illness.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at Mason's Funeral Home in the Village of Fort Ann. The family will conduct a private memorial in the spring of 2019.
