Muriel Lemery Dorsey

May 1, 1924 — May 10, 2019

FORT ANN – Muriel (Bernard) Lemery Dorsey, 95, of Copeland Pond Road, joined her daughter, Vivian, for this Mother’s Day in Heaven on May 10, 2019.

Born on May 1, 1924 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nathalie (Gamache) Bernard.

Muriel attended St. Paul’s School, formerly in Hudson Falls, and Hudson Falls High School.

After high school, she began her working career at General Electric, retiring on May 31, 1984, after 29 years of service.

On Oct. 20, 1946, she married Earl Lemery. Together, they had five children. On Aug. 12, 1963, when their youngest child was ten, Earl passed away. Muriel raised her children alone, as well as worked a full-time job. On Aug. 5, 1972, she married John Dorsey. He passed away on Dec. 8, 1996.

For many years, Muriel was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls. She also belonged to several bowling leagues in the area. Muriel was an avid hockey fan. She was a season ticket holder for the Red Wing Hockey team for the entire time they played in Glens Falls. Muriel also enjoyed listening on the radio to the Adirondack Hockey teams that followed the Red Wings.

The most important part of Muriel’s life was being around her family. She cherished the times that everyone got together at her home on Hadlock Pond. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren all enjoyed family picnics at her home. Muriel treasured her home and loved watching birds off her sun porch.

Staying healthy was also something that Muriel took seriously. Three times a week, she drove to Glens Falls for exercising at the Wellness Center, until she was no longer able to.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by one daughter, Vivian (David) Moss; four sisters, Lillian (Norman) Benway, Beatrice (Gerard) Belisle, Constance (Herbert) Lewis and Alva (William) Howard; and her two brothers, Laurent (Marion) Bernard and Eugene Raymond (Genevieve) Bernard.

Survivors include her four children, Paul Lemery and his wife, Judy, of Hudson Falls, Earl Lemery and his wife, Frances “Snookie,” of Plattsburgh, Wilfred “Will” Lemery and his wife, Charlene “Sis,” of Hudson Falls and Richard Lemery and his wife, Beckie, of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Robert (Lynn Ambler) Lemery, Stephanie Lemery, Jacqueline (Kathy Breen) Lemery, Karen Lefebvre, Julie (Len) Pomainville, Earl (Glenda Gonyea) Lemery, James (Jill Dietrich) Lemery, Melissa (Peter) Baretsky, Teresa (Tom) Lincoln, Jason Lemery, Tanya (Paul) Bishop, Katie (Eric) Sword, John (Christina) Moss and Timothy (Susan) Moss; her great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Victoria Lemery, Michael Lefebvre Jr., Rachael Lockhart, Jacob Pomainville, Maja Pomainville, Stephen Polkinghorne, Carter Lemery, Simeon, Sophie and Adeline Baretsky, Krista Lincoln, Aiden and Parker Bishop, Jack and Luke Sword, Aron and Norah Moss and Connor and Kelsey Guilder; her great-great-grandchildren, Asher and Owen Lockhart and Paisley Thew; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.
