WILTON — Lester “Skip” Weller, 80, of Wilton, joined his wife, Roxanne, in heaven on Sunday, April 14, 2019.
Born on Jan. 29, 1939 in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Howard and Lena (Harris) Weller.
Skip served his country in the National Guard.
On March 21, 1959, he married Roxanne Ruddy in Fair Haven, Vermont.
Skip was a 50-year member of the IUOE, Local 158, District 106 Operating Engineers and was very proud of all four of his sons for going on to join the union.
He loved working on cars. Skip and his wife drag raced together. He was a huge fan of South Glens Falls High School sports, especially wrestling. Most of all, Skip’s greatest joy was his family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Darwin Weller; and his sister, Flo Belden.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Weller and wife, Valerie, of Gansevoort, Howard Weller and his wife, Lisa, of South Glens Falls and Shawn Weller and his wife, Cheryl, of South Glens Falls; his eight grandchildren, Lester Weller and his fiancé, Logan Coltey, Shawn Weller and his girlfriend, Kayt McCormick, Ashley Weller and her boyfriend, Michael Fazio, Hannah Weller, Cameron Weller and his wife, Devin Weller, Carly Weller and her girlfriend, Haley Hutchings, Darwin Weller and Dillon Weller; his great-grandbabies, Rowan, Anderson, Gemma and Leighton; his sisters, Fay Vaughn and her husband, Frank, of Texas and Judy McWhorter and her husband, Don, of Argyle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his two dogs, DeeDee and Referee, who were his loving companions.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls, with a prayer to follow at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his niece, Lee Ann Vitas, and nephew, Joe Fowler, who were always there for him. They would also like to thank Brenda and Nicole from Kindred Home Care for their care and support.
