QUEENSBURY — Leonard H. Weeks, 86, a resident of Queensbury, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital.
He was born in Glens Falls on Nov. 12, 1932, and was a son of the late Wilson and Ruth (Osborne) Weeks.
Leonard was a lifelong area resident and was known to all as a gentleman farmer, and enjoyed his sideline career in raising Polled Hereford Cattle as well as summertime baling hay on his and other hay fields in Queensbury, with his sons and daughter working by his side.
During the Korean War, Leonard proudly served as a corporal in the United States Army.
Leonard retired from Finch Pruyn as a supervisor after 37 years dedicated years of service.
He and his wife, Frances, enjoyed spending time with and raising their eight children, always finding time in the summer for boating and family camping vacations.
Besides his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his wife, Frances (Greenwood) Weeks, who passed away on Oct. 20, 1998; as well as two sons, Thomas J. Weeks and Jeffrey M. Weeks.
Leonard is survived by his sons, Leonard W. (Karen) Weeks of Hudson Falls, Randolph (Paula) Weeks of Queensbury, Rodger E. (Margaret) Weeks of Queensbury, Timothy D. (Andrea) Weeks of Queensbury and Rob (Shelly) Weeks of Ballston Spa; his daughter, Valerie (James) Lessard of Rochester; his grandchildren, Thomas, Derek, Matthew, Gregory, Jillian, Jeffrey, Katherine, Lucas, Molly, Zachary, Amanda and Samuel; his brother, Wayne (Shirley) Weeks of Virginia; his sister, Linda King of Fort Edward; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury.
