NORTH CREEK — John P. Hunter, 74, died Sunday Dec. 2, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born April 7, 1944 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Clemens Pershing and Minnie Louise (Denman) Hunter.
John was a former Physical Education Teacher in Kingston for ten years before becoming an entrepreneur.
John and his wife, Linda, and family moved to Canton and owned a liquor store, then moved to Amsterdam and owned a Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. In 1984, John and his family moved to North Creek and bought the Valhaus Motel. John became a real estate broker and started Gore Mountain Accommodations. He was active in the community as a member of the North Creek Rotary Club and the Gore Region Chamber of Commerce. John will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Cassaundra Hunter; and one brother, Philip Hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Grossman) Hunter of North Creek; one son, John P. (Vicki) Hunter, Jr. of Greenwich; two grandchildren, Joseph and Casey Hunter; and one sister, Elizabeth (William) Yates of Kingston.
At John’s request there will be no services or calling hours.
