CORINTH | JoAnne Aiken, 69, of Main Street, passed away, Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on April 25, 1946, in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of Jennie Merchant of Corinth and the late Charles Merchant.
JoAnne graduated from Corinth High School in 1964.
She was employed for many years at Corinth Central School as a custodian and bus driver until her retirement. She loved her job at the school and considered the staff her family.
JoAnne was a member of First United Methodist Church of Corinth. She was also active with many activities with the school.
She enjoyed living life to the fullest and making people laugh. She also loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her father, she was predeceased by one brother, Carl L. Merchant; and her grandparents, Levi and Bernice Mosher.
Survivors, besides her mother, include her two sons, Charles D. Aiken of Latham and Billie Joe Aiken of Daytona, Florida; her one daughter, Vicky Sumner of Glens Falls; her one brother, Bill Merchant (Kathy) of Corinth; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Aiken for all the care and kindness shown to JoAnne during her illness.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at First United Methodist Church, 243 Main St., Corinth, with the Rev. Bonnie Bates, officiating.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, prior to the service.
A celebration of life and reception will be held in the church dining hall following the service.
The family suggests donations be made in memory of JoAnne to the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park St., Pruyn Pavilion, Glens Falls, NY, 12801.
