KATTSKILL BAY — Helga Stutz-Miller, 85, a resident of Kattskill Bay, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, with her son by her side.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1933 in Queens and was the daughter of the late Willey and Gertrude Crusius.
Helga graduated from Huntington High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Adelphi College, Garden City, and her master’s degree from SUNY New Paltz in 1958.
She retired from Greenwich Central School District after 30 years of teaching elementary education. Helga married her first husband, Robert Stutz, in 1956, who passed away in 1988. She then married C. Walter Miller in 1992, and he passed away in 2014.
For several years she was the historian for AAUW, a member of Harrisena Churches Women’s Group and also served on the outreach committee. Her hobbies were playing cards once a week as well as bowling. She also was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Besides her two husbands, she was predeceased by one son, Eric; and grandson, Geoffrey Stutz.
Survivors include one son, Robert W. Stutz of Queensbury; daughter-in-law, Margaret Stutz of Stillwater; and three stepdaughters of Jacksonville, Florida, Vicki, Karen and Laura; and a sister-in-law, Carol Boesch of Colorado.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours scheduled.
