GRANVILLE — Gordon A. Fiske Sr., 80, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born in Danby, Vermont on March 13, 1938, the son of Hiram J. and Jenny (Allen) Fiske.
Gordon and his wife, Barbara (Devino) Fiske, were married for many years before her death in 1991. He later became a wonderful companion to Loraine Ramey until her passing in 2004.
He was a former member of the Penhryn Engine and Hose Company in Middle Granville.
Gordon had many jobs of employment throughout the years as he supported his family. He was a truck driver and furnace repair technician with Granville Gas and Oil, and then Johnson’s Fuel Company. He was very well known throughout the area as one of the best furnace repair tech’s. After working all day, he would come home, change vehicles and would drive to Troy to pick up bread for the next day’s deliveries. He also worked delivering eggs, and worked at Archie Craig’s lumbermill in Hebron for a time.
Besides his wife, Barbara, and his companion, Loraine Ramey, he is predeceased by his son, Gregory A. Fiske, who passed away in 2013. He is also predeceased by his brother and sisters, Oliver, Addie, Marion, Winona and Gertrude.
Survivors include his three sons, Gordon A. (Nancy) Fiske Jr. of Granville, Gary A. (Sheri) Fiske of Fort Ann, Glenn A. (Darcie) Fiske of Granville; and his daughter, Glenda A. (Bruce) Wilkins of Granville. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Eric Fiske, Ann Troiano, Allen and Joe Wilkins, Jenna, Josh and Joe Fiske; five great-grandchildren, Briana and Ayva Ferrin, Giana and Hayden Fiske and Raidem Seawall; his three brothers, Robert (Thelma) Fiske, Charles (Janice) Fiske and Hiram Fiske; his five sisters, Iona Wood, Celestia Wheeler, Lillian Baker, Carolyn (Arthur) Sherwood and Theresa (Bernard) Doughan; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Loraine’s children, for whom were part of his family, Tanya (Andrew) McDonald, Kimberly Ramey and her companion, Albert Ricketts, Patricia (John) Rabideau, Renee (William) Burch and Brian Ramey III.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with Reverend Jerry McKinny, pastor officiating.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville. Following the committal services, there will be a gathering at the V.F.W. Pavilion on North Street in Granville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.
