GRANVILLE — George Wayne Shaw, 72 of Granville died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the Haynes House of Hope in Granville.
He was born on June 7, 1946 in Saratoga to George Henry Shaw and Irene L Shaw (Appling) of Granville.
Mr. Shaw grew up in Granville on the family farm graduating from Granville High School in 1964.
He married Michelle Ritchie on Jan. 15, 1965.
Mr. Shaw had been employed by Ritchie Brothers Quarry for six years then at Nebco Brass in South Glens Falls for several years, Thermal Acoustics Company and prior to his retirement by Hooper Insulation. He also always had a second job going.
In 1991 he and his wife established M. Shaw Insurance Agency that they operated until 2011. They had also established the Station House Bed and Breakfast spending several years renovating the building then operating for many years until July 6 when they sold it.
He enjoyed doing carpentry work and truly had a special bond with his dog, Emma.

Mr. Shaw helped to start a basket ball program in Middle Granville and was a little league coach.
He served Middle Granville as a member of the Penrhyn Engine and Hose Co. for 47 years.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle “Mickey” Shaw of Granville; a daughter, Lessie Billow and her husband Mark of Granville; two sons, W. Scott Shaw and his wife Anot of Phoenix, Arizona and Michael Shaw of Granville; a sister, Marion Hicks of Texas; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers George Shaw, Larry Shaw and Robert Shaw.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven, Vermont. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Durfee Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville.
