HAGUE — George P. Denton, 78, formerly of Hague, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018.
Born in Burlington, Vermont on Oct. 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Donald M. “Shorty” and Rose F. (Conway) Denton.
Mr. Denton was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy SeaBee Reserves, retiring as steelworker chief.
He was employed as a welder for the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for over 37 years and was a member of the Company’s Quarter Century Club.
George was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #1494 and the American Legion, both of Ticonderoga, and the Knights of Columbus of Port Henry. He was a past member of the Hague Fire Department and Hague Fire E.M.S.
He was predeceased by his wife, Martha J. (Cutting) Denton on Sept. 21, 2014.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Clarke and her husband, Randy, of Crown Point; one son, Daniel Denton and his wife, Julie, of Ticonderoga; three grandsons, Jeffrey Clarke and his wife, Taylor, Bryce Clarke and Jacob Denton; one great-grandson, Cameron Blankenship; three sisters, Muriel Berube of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Susan Woods of Fort Plain and Sharon Miller and her husband, Robert Moore, of Holland Patent; one brother, David Denton of Hudson Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 13, at noon following the calling hours at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Kevin D. McEwan, Pastor, will officiate.
Military honors will take place following the funeral at the Church.
There will be a reception following the services at the American Legion of Ticonderoga.
The Rite of Committal will take place at a later date at the family plot of the Forest Dale Cemetery of Crown Point.
