ARGYLE — Gay J. Morris Hungerford “Penny”, 77, passed away peacefully in her home on Summit Lake in Argyle on Sept.13, 2018.
Born in Troy, daughter of Burton Cornelius and Anna Mae Morris.
Widow of Walter A. Hungerford Sr. “Bud” who died in 1999. She and Bud were married at the Holy Cross Church in Salem in1960. They owned the Cambridge Dinner for 25 years and played Mr. and Mrs. Claus for the towns holiday parade.
Penny raised her children, worked on the family farm, and was a nurses aide for several years. She enjoyed swimming, reading, cooking and auctions. She had a love for all animals and her home on the lake.
She is survived by her son, Russell A. Hungerford, and his partner, Tom E. Bielawa; her daughter, Mary Ann Hungerford, and her partner, Toni J. Montuori; cousins, Susan Brownell Sloan and Annie Brownell Trinkle; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Burial services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge. A gathering will be held immediately proceeding the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Washington County Hospice.
