CASTLETON, Vt. — Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Dimick, 84, of Castleton, Vermont, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 24, 1930, in North Poultney, Vermont, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Panoushek) Marcy.
She grew up in various places in New York and Vermont and graduated from Poultney High School in 1948.
Mrs. Dimick was employed as a seamstress at the Dress Factory in Poultney, Vermont, and worked at Damascus Corp. in Rutland, Vermont. She recently volunteered with the Grandparent Program at Castleton Elementary School. She would joke that she never left the second grade.
She was a member of the Federated Church of Castleton, where she held the office of treasurer on the Board of Trustees and was a Sunday school teacher and the superintendent of Sunday school. She was also a member of the choir and the English Handbell Choir.
Mrs. Dimick was a member of the Castleton Community Seniors, Bomoseen Grange No. 273 and the New Horizons Grange.
Survivors include five children, Scott Dimick of Warnerville, New York, Sheri Curtis of Burlington, Vermont, Mark Dimick of East Poultney, Vermont, Lori-Anna Mason of Castleton, Vermont, and Dale Dimick of Castleton, Vermont; and two sisters, Sylvia Bartlett of Rutland, Vermont, and Darlene Dikeman of Hubbardton, Vermont; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in 1966 by her husband, William H. Dimick Jr., whom she married in 1951; son, Todd Dimick, in 2012; brother, Henry Marcy; and granddaughter, Christine Elizabeth Dimick.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Durfee Funeral Home, 119 N. Main St., Fair Haven, Vermont.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Federated Church of Castleton.
Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery.
