December 17, 1948 — September 6, 2018 GLENS FALLS — Doris Ellen Toarmino, age 69 of Bay Street, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Sept. 6, 2018.
Born on Dec. 17, 1948 in Rochester, Doris grew up, attended school and raised a family of her own in Canandaigua. Although she lived in other cities and states throughout her life, Canandaigua is always where her heart was.
Doris was a woman of many talents. She cared deeply and was devoted to family and shared those talents with all of us. She was an incredible homemaker, a wonderful cook and an exceptionally skilled seamstress. She had an amazing knack for making a house a warm and inviting home. She enjoyed gardening demonstrating her ‘green thumb’ with lush plants inside and out of the home and was also an avid reader.
Doris was predeceased by her father, Robert M. Wright, and beloved step-father, Robert H. Hayward.
Survivors include her mother, Joyce E. Hayward (St. Augustine, Florida); her children, Lori (Cliff) DuFrain, James (Laura) Sanders, and Jessica (Tom) Hewitt; her grandchildren, Taylor and Macy DuFrain, Joseph and Eric Sanders, and Nicholas Jeppe; sister, Cathy Savarese; brothers, Bruce Wright and Robert MacDonald; step-brothers, Steven (Sheila), Scott, Sheldon and Sean Hayward; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua, where a memorial service is being planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the United Service Organization by going online to www.uso.org or sending directly to the New York USO at 10502 S. Riva Ridge Loop, Fort Drum, NY 13602.
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
