CORINTH and BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Donald A. Winslow, 79, a longtime resident of Corinth and current resident of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 with his loving wife and sister by his side.
Born on April 22, 1939 in Corinth, he was the son of the late James Arthur and Elizabeth (Bennett) Winslow.
Don graduated from Corinth High School in 1959.
He married Norma M. Timpson on Aug. 5, 1961 in Brant Lake. The couple resided in Corinth for many years.
Don was employed at the International Paper Company in Corinth in the stock room for 42 years until his retirement in 2000 and was a member of the IP Quarter Club. He then was employed at Corinth Central School for 15 years as a substitute custodian.
After moving to Brooksville, he then worked for Wesleyan Village as a maintenance worker for 10 years.
Don was a former longtime member of the Corinth Wesleyan Church and attended the Brooksville Wesleyan Church for many years.
Most of the residents of Corinth have seen the familiar figure of Don Winslow as he ran the streets of Corinth. He is also well known in the Adirondack region as he competed in 5K, 10K, half and full marathons, as well as Prospect and Whiteface Mountain. He competed in the Boston Marathon as well.

Don acquired around 120 trophies and awards over his 45 years of running. His last race was five years ago at age 74. He also enjoyed biking, especially with the bike club at Wesleyan Village. Don competed in Empire Games for snowshoeing and participated in Tae Kwon Do. He also enjoyed listening to ‘50s music.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by one son, Gregory Winslow; two brothers, Bruce Winslow and Robert Winslow; and one aunt, Madeline Gilbert.
Survivors besides his loving wife of 57 years include one son, Kevin C. Winslow of Jacksonville, Florida; two siblings, Richard B. Winslow of Denver, Colorado and Deborah J. Winslow-Hawley (George) of Welcome, Maryland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Corinth Free Methodist Church, 20 Hamilton Ave., Corinth.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Cunningham, Russell and Sandy Allen, Debbie and Craig Stollery, and all their friends and family for their kindness and care, prayers and words of support given to Don and Norma during Don’s long illness.
