PORTER CORNERS — David L. Holland, 51, of Depot Road, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital, after a brave fight on life support, with his family by his side.
His struggle for life has been debilitating since his illness in 2015, as he tried to overcome his health issues. David rests in peace now with his loving, heavenly family that he has missed for a very long time.
Born on March 29, 1968 in Saratoga Hospital, he was the son of the late Louis Jr. “Chub” and Margaret “Maggie” (Cowles) Holland.
David graduated from Corinth High School.
He was employed at Stone Bridge Iron and Steel in Gansevoort as a welder and sheet metal fabricator, until his illness in 2015.
He loved to hunt and be working outdoors.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandparents, Louis Sr. and Eleanor Holland and Emerson Sr. and Ruth (Brooks) Cowles; his sister, Bobbi Jo “Missy” (Holland) Harwood, who passed away Jan. 23, 2019; and many aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of his family.
Survivors include two brothers, Jeffrey and Joey Holland; his daughter, Ashley Holland; his beautiful granddaughter, Hannah; and his son, Kyle Holland, all of Corinth; five aunts, Mary (Holland) Podwirny, Betty (Cowles) Turner, Rita (Cowles) Mosher, Belinda (Cowles) Hull and S. Adrienne (Cowles) Hull; two uncles, Emerson W. Cowles Jr. and Warren F. Cowles; and many cousins.
There will be no services at this time. A private committal service for the family will be held at a later date for David along with his sister, Bobbi Jo “Missy,” at Maplewood Cemetery, Porter Corners, alongside and with their parents.
The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses in the ICC Unit at Saratoga Hospital who tried to save his life. We thank everyone for their prayers and support received at this most difficult time.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of donations to the American Heart Association at www.2.heart.org, the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org, or to any charity of your choice in David’s memory.
