QUEENSBURY — David J. Capron, 68, lost his hard-fought battle with liver disease Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born May 29, 1946, in Wells, Vermont, the son of Bernard and Amelia (LaParle) Capron.
David spend the first 20 years of his career at GE and went on to spend the next 30 years at NAMIC (now Angio Dynamics) as manager of Facilities Engineering. He dedicated himself to volunteerism in the local community, especially Big Brothers Big Sisters, which has held a special place in his heart.
In recognition of his service to this community, David was the recipient of the 2009 J. Walter Juckett Award and most recently Community Mentor of the Year for Big Brothers Big Sisters. David was a charter member of the Granville Rescue Squad and a founding member of the Wells Fire Department.
David is survived by his beloved wife Jane of 43 years; daughters, Debra (Paul) Cahill and Jennifer (Rick) Barthelmas; his brothers, Fred (Charlotte) Capron, Joe (Trish) Capron and John (Diane) Capron; many nieces and nephews; and his pride and joy, his grandson, Aiden Barthelmas.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Amelia.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Annunciation Church in Queensbury, New York.
Burial will be at noon at Wells Cemetery in Vermont.
Memorial donations may be made in David’s name to Big Brothers Big Sister of Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, New York.
