August 5, 1945 — August 3, 2018 SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Cynthia French, 72, of South Glens Falls, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 at St. Peters Hospice Inn in Albany.
Born on Aug. 5, 1945 in Glens Falls, Cynthia was the daughter of the late George E. and Rita A. (Nicholson) French.
Cynthia was raised and educated in Glens Falls and earned her master’s degree in Plattsburgh. Later, she moved to Fort Pierce, Florida, earning her second master’s degree in Miami. During this time, she was employed by Martin Memorial in Stuart, Florida, as a supervisor, retiring after 29 years of service.
Cynthia returned to the local area in 2001 to be closer to her family.
She devoted her time to family and friends and enjoyed music, knitting and crafts. After the passing of her father, Cynthia enjoyed her mother’s friendship and took excellent care of her.
In addition to her parents, Cynthia was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas E. and Richard M. French.
Survivors include her brothers, Daniel M. (Kristine) French of Arvada, Colorado and Vincent M. (Vickie) French of South Glens Falls; her uncles and aunts, Leonard and Corleen Daly of Hudson Falls and Richard and Kay Nicholson of Queensbury; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Hudson Falls. Burial will take place at a later date at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.
Memorial contributions may be made in Cynthia’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
