SCHROON LAKE — Christine R. Swinton, 64, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at her home with her family at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chris was born on Aug. 4, 1953 in Glens Falls, the daughter of Leona Johnson Planty.
Chris was a graduate of Pottersville Central School and the Glens Falls Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. She was employed as a radiologic technician at Glens Falls Hospital for 20 years. In 2013, she joined the Radiology Department at Hudson Headwaters Health Center in Warrensburg. She was a 36-year member of the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, where she served as an EMT and most recently as an Advanced EMT. She was a member of the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association.
Chris was an avid cross-stitcher who won many “Blue Ribbons” in state competitions. She especially enjoyed being with her family.
She was predeceased by her sister, Thelma Rooney; and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Timothy Swinton of Schroon Lake; her daughter, Jennifer Darque of Indianapolis, Indiana; her son, Orlando Swinton of Schroon Lake; her mother, Leona Planty of Queensbury; her sisters, Jane Gifford of South Glens Falls and Shirley Sherman of Lake Luzerne; her three brothers, Stanley Planty of Greenwich and Henry and Jeffery Planty of Glens falls; as well as several aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time.
There will be a memorial graveside service this summer at a date and time to be announced.
The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
