GLENS FALLS — Brian Paul McGregor, 56, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, putting his trust in the hands of an understanding savior. He was born on Aug. 26, 1961 to Jean McGregor Kelleher and the late Peter Basil McGregor.
He grew up on Sierra Street, attended friendly Jackson Heights and graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1979. His favorite two subjects were art and driver’s ed. He was an altar boy at the Church of the Messiah while in Junior High. He then went to Arizona for three years and loved the climate.
Brian loved swimming in the Sierra Street backyard pool and taught a few kids how to swim. His sister, Pam was the fastest. He enjoyed all the family trips to Maine, Florida, Virginia Beach, Thousand Islands, Amish Country, Mystic Beach, Connecticut and Canajoharie to see the fun time McGregors, aunt Peg and uncle Jack. He looked forward to the annual Collins reunion picnics.
Brian moved to Clifton Park in 1992 and worked at Hannaford in the special foods department. His latest job was in Virginia in a top rated hotel, and he made many friends there. He loved dogs, especially Buddy, all birds and the animal world. He loved going to garage sales with Vicki.
“Brian, we’ll miss you. You left too soon. You were your own person and a little daring. You had some challenges in your life, but you tried to carry on.” You marched for the candidates you liked: “Kerry for President.” You could laugh when you were happy and cry when someone passed. You were 100 percent human being. I hope you knew how much you meant to our family.
Brian will be remembered and cherished by his mom, Jean (Collins) McGregor Kelleher; his two brothers, Bruce (Mary Ann) McGregor and Brett A. McGregor; his sister, Pam (Alex) Labrum; and nephews, Jared Peter Labrum and Brandon Jay Labrum.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter B. McGregor; grandfather, Allen and beloved grandmother, Myrtle; Grandpa “Mac” McGregor; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced.
