LAKE LUZERNE Miles F. Cowles, of East River Drive, died Monday evening, May 26, 2008, at Saratoga Hospital. He was 72.
Born on Dec. 21, 1935, in Glens Falls, he was a life-long area resident and son of the late Ernest and Louise (Crafts) Cowles.
Miles was a 1954 graduate of Hadley-Luzerne School. He worked as a logger until 1966 and then worked for International Paper in Corinth for 25 years until his retirement in 1991.
Miles married Virginia Bunzey on July 18, 1959 and the two had spent recent winters in Florida, where he enjoyed surf fishing. In addition to fishing, he also enjoyed hunting and
listening to bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia F. Cowles of Lake Luzerne; his children: Cindy Thoman (Mike) of
Uncasville, Conn., Michael Cowles (Lisa) of Lake Luzerne, David Cowles (Melody) of Queensbury and Dawn Cowan (Chris) of Glens Falls; two sisters, Charlotte Rozell of Queensbury and Ernestine Williams of South Glens Falls; his
grandchildren: Nicole, Heather, Michael, Sarah, Matthew and Mark Thoman, Taylor Cowles and Amanda and Chris Cowan; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Brewer
Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, at the
funeral home with Pastor John Chamberlin officiating.
Burial will follow at Luzerne Cemetery.
