Lake Luzerne -- Grace E. Perkins Frasier Naccarato died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2009 at her home. She was 81.

Born on Dec. 3, 1928, the fourth child of Lynn F. and Cecile D. Perkins, Grace graduated from Hadley-Luzerne Central School on Main Street in 1946 and entered the College of Home Economics at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

In 1949, Grace married William B. Frasier of Hadley and they had a son, Scott W. Frasier in 1952. In 1955, Grace returned to Cornell and earned her bachelor's degree in education and pursued a teaching career. She taught at the three-year old Queensbury School from 1956 to 1958, Miami Beach Junior-Senior High from 1958 to 1960, and Kingston City Junior and Senior High Schools from 1960 to 1984, where she retired.

She earned her master's degree from Plattsburgh State University during the summers while teaching in Kingston.

In 1982, Grace married Joseph Naccarato of Hurley, N.Y. Upon retirement in 1984 after 28 years of teaching, she and her husband, Joseph, returned to Lake Luzerne to occupy the Perkins Homestead. They spent some winter visits in Florida until the death of her husband in 1990.

Grace enjoyed some travel over the years. Her first visit out of the United States was with her son, Scott, for a week in Grand Bahamas Island. Over the years, Grace traveled to Grand Bahamas Island; Mexico; Guatemala; Costa Rica; Haiti; Athens, Greece; South African Countries for Safaris; Egypt; a cruise on the Nile to visit tombs and Kawai, Hawaii.

Grace participated in a variety of local organizations and was a lifelong member of the Rockwell Falls Presbyterian Church in Lake Luzerne. She was one of a group of American Legion Auxiliary members who commuted once a month to the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany to entertain the nursing home patients. She also volunteered at the Warren County Historical Society for a number of years.

In addition to her parents and husbands, her brothers Donald, Norman and Wayne predeceased her.

She is survived by her son, Scott Frasier and his companion, Wendy Mylott; several nieces and nephews and her sisters in law, Helen, Ann and Gloria Perkins.

As per Grace's wishes, there are no public calling hours or funeral services.
