HUDSON FALLS - Thomas John Ackley, 60, of Mechanic Street, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Kingston Hospital after a long illness.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1947, in Warrensburg.
Thomas attended Hadley Luzerne Schools.
He served in the United States Army from May of 1969 until September of 1972.
For many years, Thomas owned and operated Adirondack Building Maintenance. When he was younger, he was a logger for various different companies.
Thomas was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Adirondack Chapter No. 79. He was avid NASCAR fan. Geoff Bodine was his favorite driver. Thomas loved horses and dreamed of being a cowboy. He collected horse memorabilia. He loved all children and they loved him.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marion Ackley Dennison, and his brother, Daniel Rumpf.
Survivors include his three children: Spring Ackley, Kim Passino and Wyatt Ackley; his two stepsons, Justin Anderson and Ryan Anderson; his dear friend, Karen Anderson; his four grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; as well as several aunt, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls, N.Y.
Burial with full military honors will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, in Schuylerville.
