COUPLE WED 70 YEARS
Floyd and Vivian LaPage Dumas celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 3, 2015. Floyd is originally from Malone, NY and Vivian is from Fort Covington, NY. They have lived most of their married lives in Glens Falls/Queensbury where they currently reside. They were married at St. Mary’s Church in FortCovington by Rev. Robert DuFour. Their attendants were Marion Deragon (aunt of the bride) and Carl Dumas (brother of the groom).
Floyd was in the U.S. Army and served in the 45th Infantry Division during World War II and was an escaped prisoner of war. He has received several medals of honor for his bravery during this time. Upon his return, he was employed by Steins Men’s Clothing Store for many years. He was also one of the only men’s tailors in the Glens Falls area and continued to do tailor work until about a year ago.
Floyd and Vivian were married upon his return from the service on April 3, 1945. They resided in Danbury, Connecticut, for a short time and then came to the Glens Falls area. Vivian stayed home and brought up their three children – Bonnie, David, and Steven. She loves her home and decorating it. She has also enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales and collecting “everything.”
They have been blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren – plus several family members and friends.
