Escape at Dannemora

Benicio del Toro starts in a scene in 'Escape At Dannemora' as director Ben Stiller works the camera. Patricia Arquette, who plays Joyce "Tilly" Mitchell, was nominated for Best Actress by the Screen Actor Guild.

"Escape at Dannemora," which has been garnering excellent reviews since it premiered, got its biggest compliment yet last week: two Golden Globe nominations.

The Ben Stiller-directed limited series was nominated in the category Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture.

And Patricia Arquette, who plays Joyce "Tilly" Mitchell, was nominated for Best Actress in that category.

Stiller said of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globe nominations: "I am honored the HFPA has recognized our show. We're grateful to Showtime for believing in this production and supporting it so fully and the people of the North Country and Clinton Correctional for helping bring it to life."

Also nominated in that category are “A Very English Scandal,” which aired on Amazon; “The Alienist,” TNT; “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” FX; and “Sharp Objects,” HBO.

Regarding Arquette's nomination, Stiller said in his statement: "I'm so proud of Patricia for her fearless work and our whole cast and crew who worked so hard to tell this story."

For her part, Arquette said she is "very grateful to be nominated alongside the amazing and inspiring actresses in my category."

Those other actresses are Amy Adams for “Sharp Objects,” Connie Britton for “Dirty John,” Laura Dern for “The Tale” and Regina King, “Seven Seconds.”

The Golden Globe winners will be presented Jan. 6.
