Thurman Maple Days: Weekend 1
THURMAN — Celebrate the start of the 2019 spring season during the kick-off of Thurman Maple Days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at various locations in Thurman and Athol.
For three weekends in a row, the five largest maple syrup producers in the Adirondack region and five nearby farms open their doors to the public for Thurman Maple Days. Celebrate spring with free tours, tastings and demonstrations, with a vast array of food and souvenirs available to take home.
Taste the finest maple syrup, watch maple tree sawmill operations, taste sheep cheese and hang out with llamas on a self-guided tour of all the farms. Follow the arrow signs at nearly every corner in town.
Participating farms include:
Adirondack Gold Maple Farm, 74 Bear Pond Road, Athol;
Hidden Hollow Maple Farm, 312 Dippikill Road, Warrensburg;
Mud Street Maple Farm, 269 Mud St., Athol;
Toad Hill Maple Farm, 137 Charles Olds Road, Athol; and
Valley Road Maple Farm, 190 Valley Road, Warrensburg (start here for breakfast at 9 a.m.).

Martin’s Lumber and Certified Tree Farm, 280 Valley Road, Warrensburg;
Nettle Meadow Farm, 484 S. Johnsburg Road, Warrensburg;
Peru Llama Farm, 661 High St., Athol;
Whitefields Farm, 95 Mountain Road, Athol (only open March 23 and 24).
Pancake breakfasts are served each of the maple days, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Valley Road Maple Farm. Enjoy pancakes, pure local maple syrup and maple sausages from Oscar’s Smokehouse. The Thurman Maple Sugar Party is from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Thurman Town Hall, 311 Athol Road, Athol.
