Meet the Breeds Dog Event – Saratoga County 4-H Program, in correlation with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, will host a Meet the Breeds Dog Event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the 4-H Training Center, 556 Middleline Road.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about each breed’s country of origin, historical purpose/function, traits and attributes as a family pet, while learning about responsible dog ownership and which breeds may be right for your family. There will be agility demonstrations, an adoption van from Saratoga County Animal Shelter, a meet and greet with a local veterinarian and food.

The public is welcome, and there is no charge.


Meeting – Sons of American Legion Squadron No. 233 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Post, 30 Cooper St.

Back to School Open House – Glens Falls Karate Academy, 28 Ridge St., will hold a back to school open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The free community event is open to the public, and no advance registration is required.

There will be demos presented by academy staff and students, free giveaways, a raffle and workshops on Karate for Concentration, Kid Safe Karate and Bully Proof.

Turkey Supper – A family-style turkey supper will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Granville Methodist Church, 18 Church St.

The menu will also include dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, cranberry sauce, coleslaw, beverages and homemade pies and rolls.

Tickets at the door are $9 for adults; children ages 5 to 12, $4; ages 4 and younger, free. Takeout and gift certificates will be available.


Legion Fundraiser – American Legion Post No. 374 on Route 9L will host a benefit sandwich supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The cost is $3.50 and includes ham or turkey sandwich, chips and pickle.


Free Community Dinner – Queensbury United Methodist Church, 460 Aviation Road, will host its monthly free community dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The church will give a video presentation of its June mission trip to Philadelphia.

History of Slavery Talk – Krissy Saddlemire, village of Schuylerville historian, will discuss the history of slavery in New York at the Old Saratoga Historical Association meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring St.

The public is welcome. There is no charge.
