Even if the weather outside is frightful, visitors can still curl up for a cozy winter “hibercation” in central New York’s scenic Finger Lakes region. Sleep in and linger over breakfast in bed as the snow falls gently outside, then bundle up and venture out to explore the charming local lake towns with a romantic outdoor stroll, popping into a friendly winery or brewpub before dinner by the fireplace at an intimate restaurant.
All year long, the Finger Lakes region rolls out the welcome mat to couples, families and friend groups who are seeking a rejuvenating escape. This winter there’s even more reason to pay a visit as local businesses, hotels and restaurants have teamed up with the Cayuga County Office of Tourism to participate in a hibercation campaign running from Jan. 15 through March 15, 2022.
“It’s the perfect cure for cabin fever,” says Cayuga County office of tourism executive director Karen Kuhl. “We’re encouraging people to enjoy some guilt-free downtime while they escape the day-to-day pressures of work and home.”
