The Phantoms announced that they signed two forwards Friday morning: Chris VandeVelde and Doug Clarkson.

VandeVelde spent the past three seasons playing in Edmonton's organization. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound center played 57 games with Oklahoma City last season, scoring seven goals and 13 assists. He also played 11 games with the Oilers, but did not record a point.

The 26-year-old will join former Baron teammate Yann Danis on the Phantoms.

Clarkson spent his first professional season in the ECHL, first with Toledo and then with Trenton.

He played 25 games with Toledo and scored four goals and four assists. Clarkson, 6-foot-5, 242 pounds,  was then traded to Trenton where he played five games without scoring.
