Trump's travel ban is having awful effects, like separating husbands from wives and children from parents, and it's having effects that are just unfortunate and unnecessary, like preventing a couple of world-class snowshoers from competing in the world snowshoe championships, taking place soon in Saranac Lake. This story in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise tells of the two men, from a predominately Muslim area of India, who were all set to come to Saranac Lake and compete, as they have at other international competitions, when they found out, because of "current policy," their visas were on hold. India is not even one of the countries listed in Trump's ban, but the sweeping nature of the ban is having a spillover effect, an effect that so far has swamped the dreams of these two athletes.
