A 207-acre piece of land off Route 8 in Brant Lake may become the home of a mountain bike park next year.

Drew Cappabianca, owner of The Hub bike shop/restaurant & bar, announced on Facebook this week that he had purchased a piece of land near his business to transform into "Brant Lake Bike Park." The goal is to create a top-notch mountain biking trail system that uses land around 1,400-foot-tall Bartonville Mountain, northwest of Brant Lake.

"Buying the land is just the tip of the iceberg of work ahead of us," he wrote. "If you're interested in being a part of Brant Lake Bike Park please drop me a line. We're going to need all the help we can get!"

Cappabianca said in a video posted on Facebook that he hoped to open in 2017.
