Route 9 Development
Derek Pruitt - dpruitt@poststar.com Route 9 traffic flows between the Saratoga Heritage and Renaissance Apartment complexes in Wilton on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Housing and retail development continues to spread along the Route 9 corridor though some neighbors are concerned the area is growing too fast. Apartment complex developer Thomas Farone said the units continue to fill up and the growth is necessary to accomodate people moving to the area.

The Times Union published an interesting article Sunday about a Saratoga County contractor who apparently caused some serious problems for families looking to build new homes.

The contractor at the root of the story, Thomas Farone Homebuilders, has built numerous developments around the region, including involvement with the Indian Ridge development in Queensbury years ago and many in northern Saratoga County. The story of frustrated and devastated customers who have problems with a contractor is one we hear frequently at the paper.

It's a long read, but it's compelling and well-reported, and particularly worth reading if you are looking to build a new home, or to renovate your current home. Do your research before you hand tens of thousands of dollars, if not more, to someone you don't know.
