Toys R Us

The Toys R Us store in Queensbury isn't confirming if they are in fact closing or not.

The folks running the Toys R Us locally and corporately aren’t good at sharing information.

On Friday, reports of liquidation of the franchise were swirling with talks of an announcement as early as Monday were speculated.

As for the Queensbury store, the verdict remains out if it will close or turn into something else entirely.

The store manager, Don Cameron, and corporate spokesperson Meghan Sowa would not release any details Monday afternoon.

Cameron directed me to Sowa, and Sowa said she was the person to ask but wouldn’t comment.

The store was already destined to close back in January but was allegedly saved by their customers and a renegotiated lease.

The store was among 182 stores listed for possible closure.

The Queensbury store opened in November 1996 in a building that had housed a Grand Union supermarket, which had closed in 1995.

For now I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out...
