The Six Flags 30-hour Coffin Challenge began at 1 p.m. Saturday and ended at 7 p.m. Sunday.

QUEENSBURY — A lot can be accomplished in 30 hours.

It's 1 1/4 days. Also, it's about the length of time to go from New York City to Johannesburg, South Africa, and back.

Starting Saturday at 1 p.m., Great Escape, a Six Flags theme park, will have six contestants sit in closed coffins with limited breaks for 30 hours and if they last, they can win $300 cash, two 2019 Gold Season Passes to the park and two haunted house passes.

All that equates to about $414 along with the two unknown-priced haunted house passes. That value, however, includes the current 70 percent discount to the season passes.

The contestants will lay in the wooden coffin and be given six-minute bathroom breaks per hour, limited cell phone usage, meals and unannounced visits from the Fright Fest freaks, the press release stated.

There will be two local contestants: Danielle Cross and Erin Dunn, who are both of Saratoga Springs.
