Republican congressional hopeful James Tedisco received a boost in his campaign on Saturday when GOP town and city chairmen from Saratoga County unanimously endorsed his candidacy.
"I have found Jim Tedisco to be very involved in our county," said Saratoga County Republican Chairman John "Jasper" Nolan.
Saratoga County holds about one-third of the weighted vote in the Republican candidate selection process for an upcoming special election in the 20th Congressional District.
Tedisco, the state Assembly Minority leader, is one of three declared Republican candidates in the race to fill the seat that will be vacant when Kirsten Gillibrand, D-Greenport, is sworn in to the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.
Other declared candidates are former Assembly Minority Leader John Faso of Kinderhook in Columbia County and state Sen. Elizabeth Little, R-Queensbury.
Alexander "Sandy" Treadwell of Lake Placid, a former state secretary of state, and Richard Wager of Dutchess County, a former aide to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, have said they are considering the race.
