A lot of people have been wondering what impact this tough winter will have on the tick population that those of us who go outdoors have learned to dread.

I haven't held out much hope for a big die-off, as we have had bad winters before and ticks keep bouncing back. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise published an interesting essay from a Cornell Cooperative Extension specialist this week breaking down the science of how winter effects bugs, and what effects we may see when (if?) winter ends.
