Gov. Andrew Cuomo will announce the 2017 Regional Economic Development Council Awards starting at 11 a.m. at the Albany Capital Center.
Several local projects are proposed which include:
- Flomatic Corporation, which manufactures high quality values for domestic and municipal water and wastewater applications, is seeking $500,000 to expand its Glens Falls plant. The expansion will house a new epoxy coating system to replace and outdated piece of machinery. According to the Capital Region Economic Development Council 2017 Progress Report it will increase capacity by 50 percent. The project will create at least 15 jobs.
- West Mountain Ski Area is seeking $400,000 to rebuild and replace existing and aging infrastructure and allow expanded access to the north side of the mountain.
- O.P Frederick's is seeking funding to create a micro-brewery and hop farm in Chestertown. $120,000 in grand funds is being sought.
- Lastly, a high quality craft beer brewing ingredients farm in Moreau has been proposed. The grain hub would provide the booming craft beverage market a reliable source of grains. It is a first of its kind in the state. $300,000 is being sought with a total project cost of $3.3 million.
Past projects include renovations at the Glens Falls Civic Center and the Park Theater downtown have benefited from the Empire State Development Grants.
