ALBANY — South Glens Falls crowned six individual champions on Friday and Saturday at the Foothills Council indoor track championships at the University at Albany.
The Bulldogs finished runner-up to Scotia in both the boys and girls team standings. Hudson Falls placed fourth in the girls and Schuylerville was third in the boys, while Glens Falls took sixth in both.
The South High girls were led by Regina Rosati, who won the 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs with times of 5 minutes, 0.42 seconds and 11:01.22, respectively. Sabrena Quintois-McKinney captured the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 1 3/4 inches, and Jadin Swartz won the weight throw with a toss of 31-7.
Placing second for the Bulldogs’ girls were Quintois-McKinney in the high jump and 55-meter hurdles, Kayli Hammond in the 1,000, Lea Richard in the shot put, and the 1,600 relay team. Bailey Fifield (weight throw), Morgan Jackson (race walk) and the 3,200 relay finished third.
The South High boys were led by first-place finishers Ryan Desautels in the weight throw (50-9 1/2), Frank Triolo in the 3,200 (10:30.40) and the 800 relay team of Brad Gordon, Liam Moulton, Dyllan Parker and Corey Whitaker (1:45.33).
Finishing second for the Bulldogs were Desautels in the shot put, Triolo in the 1,600, Derek Bernard in the 3,200, and Gabe Rittereiser and Josiah Simpson, who tied for second in the pole vault. Placing third were Ryan Winkelman (long jump) and the 1,600 relay.
Hudson Falls had two female winners, with Trinity Cote winning the pole vault at 7 feet, and Karlee Strong taking first in the shot put with a throw of 34-10. The Tigers’ Ashleigh Lacy was second in the 300, and taking third were the 800 relay and Kayleigh Lacy in the 55 meters.
Chris Hughes led the Glens Falls boys with winning times in the 600 (1:31.19) and 1,000 (2:45.31), and he combined with Cameron Giordano, Ethan Wyman and Jeff Garcia to win the 1,600 relay in 3:50.55. Giordano (600) and Wyman (1,000) placed third.
Star Bernard led the Glens Falls girls with a win in the triple jump (34-7 1/4) and a second place in the long jump.
Schuylerville’s Ian Luhmann led the Black Horses’ boys with a win in the 300 (38.30 seconds) and a runner-up finish in the 55 meters. On the girls side, Ashley Watson won the 1,500 race walk in 8:47.00, and was third in the 3,000.
