NORFOLK, Va. — Goalie Tomas Sholl made 29 saves to win his third straight start as the Adirondack Thunder finished the weekend with a 5-2 victory over the Norfolk Admirals.
The Thunder took two of the three weekend games in Norfolk and maintained their second-place standing in the ECHL’s North Division, two points behind first-place Manchester.
Five players scored goals for Adirondack and Mathieu Brodeur contributed two assists. The visitors were awarded nine power plays to Norfolk’s two, scoring once with the extra man on the ice. The Thunder outshot Norfolk 42-31.
After an early Norfolk scored an early goal, Adirondack netted the next three. James Henry scored 15:47 into the first period and Andrew Radjenovic made it a 2-1 game less than a minute before the first intermission.
Shane Conacher scored the Thunder power-play goal midway through the second period. Austin Orszulak got the fourth Adirondack goal midway through the third period and Brian Ward later scored into an empty net.
The Thunder get four days off before returning to Cool Insuring Arena for a game on Friday.
